Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list!This listing is for a vintage C.G. Conn “New Wonder” model cornet. The serial number 136,824 indicates a c.1914 production date. It has the ‘union label’ stamp on the second valve casing. I don’t see a model number on it, but I believe it is an 80A based on the opera glass micro tuner mechanism. This instrument is being sold as is for parts or restoration. It is not currently in playing condition. It is in generally good physical condition but will certainly require some work to be made playable. There are a few minor dings/pings, but no significant dents. It is missing the brace from the lead pipe to the bell. The main slide, and second valve slide have broken solder joints. One of the tenons for each of those slides is stuck in the corresponding tubing of the instrument. I was not able to extract the first or third valve slides. The slide with the micro tuner is moving, and the tuner operates smoothly. I was able to remove all of the pistons, but two of the lower valve caps were stuck. The pistons move freely and rebound, but they definitely need lubrication, and possibly additional work. The mother of pearl on the third valve is broken. There is also some minor damage to the pearl on the first valve. This horn has silver plate finish with gold wash in the bell. The finish is heavily tarnished and worn through to brass in some high contact areas. The horn definitely needs a good cleaning. It should look good when it is all polished up though. It has some beautiful floral engraving on the bell that goes all the way back to the first valve. This horn comes in a well worn vintage case that I don’t believe is original. It is very musty smelling, so probably not something you would want to use after getting the horn fixed up. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included.
